Inspired by the Cherokee tribe that historically inhabited the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, this song is smoked and brain-tanned in the fire of mystery. The lyrics were inspired by a tribal members description of the creation event as told at a Cherokee treaty council meeting in New York City in 1975. The entire story can be read in the book "American Indian Myths and Legends" by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz.
