Coureur Des Bois

A Coureur Des Bois (French for "runner of the woods") was an independent trader who travelled in New France and the interior of North America to trade with Native tribes by exchanging various European items for furs. Some learned the trades and practices of the Native peoples.

The painting is "Coureur Des Bois" by Marc-Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Coté
